The Lodge Teesdale Lodge is a modern, purpose-built, single-storey nursing home. Comprising 44 single rooms (two with interconnecting doors), all have en-suite facilities offering privacy and luxury. Each bedroom, furnished to a very high standard, has a telephone point and a TV point. We encourage residents to bring personal belongings with them to make their rooms feel really their own. We have three delightful lounges with doors leading to covered patio areas overlooking landscaped gardens. There are gently sloping ramps for wheelchair access to our gardens and patio areas. In summertime we encourage our residents to spend time outdoors in our spacious gardens, with raised flower beds to enable residents to garden with ease should they wish to do so. Meals Our highly trained chef and his kitchen staff have been presented with the prestigious Heartbeat Award, which is awarded for the provision of healthy eating choices with an excellent standard of hygiene. Great care is taken to ensure variety and a very high standard, with the emphasis on home cooking. Special diets are also catered for. There are light snacks, tea, coffee and fruit juice available throughout the day and night. Whilst meals are usually served in our pleasant and spacious dining room, residents may choose to eat in their own room. Nursing Care Our qualified and experienced matron is supported by a team of registered general nurses and care assistants, who are there to ensure a professional, caring service is provided day and night. The nurse call system to each room enables staff to respond to emergencies promptly 24 hours a day. We feel it is important to involve residents in decisions being made about aspects of their daily care and special needs. Caring also means being there to have a friendly chat or share a problem in confidence. Medical Care We encourage our residents to retain their own Gernal Pracitioner. However, if this is not possible, arrangements will be made for a General Practitioner to take over your medical needs. Dental and optical services can also be arranged. Support Staff Our nursing staff are supported by housekeeping staff, cooks, cleaners, laundry maintenance and gardening staff. Working under the direction of our Matron, the Nursing Home is run smoothly and efficiently on a day-to-day basis. Other Facilities Hairdressing, physiotherapy, chiropody, library books and daily newspapers are all available, at no extra cost (excluding perms). Activities Outings and entertainment are arranged on a regular basis. We also encourage our residents to maintain hobbies or take up new ones. We have a member of staff you will meet to assist you in this area. The choice, of course, will be yours and should you prefer to be peaceful, there are quiet areas in the home.
